Lynda Monik is the CEO of the Windsor Essex Community Health Centre. The WECHC is south western Ontario’s largest Community Health Centre. The Health Centre provides primary health care, health promotion and illness prevention to over 16,000 residents in Windsor/Essex. The Centre employs an inter-professional team of close to 130 staff, including primary care physicians, NP’s, nurses, social workers, registered dieticians, registered massage therapists, pharmacist, psychologist and other professionals.
Lynda is a Registered Nurse who has over 30 years of health care experience. Lynda was the Administrator for a Hospitalist Program and over saw the day to-day activities of 10 Family Physicians who provided primary care to unattached (orphan) patients in general medicine/surgery and mental health unattached patients admitted to the hospital. Lynda has authored numerous articles regarding the utilization of hospital resources. She is the recipient of numerous awards and grants including a $100,000 grant from the Change Foundation to implement Virtual Tours of Long-Term Care Facilities in local hospitals. Lynda has taught at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Windsor.
