Just a short while ago, the Erie St. Clair LHIN’s very own Ron Sheppard, a Health System Manager for Windsor/Essex, paid a visit to the new VON Adult Day Program. The program was transitioned earlier this year into the community as a way of improving access and ensuring that it would be sustainable in the future.

The Adult Day Program provides supervised programming in a group setting for independent adults, such as the frail elderly, individuals with Alzheimer’s, or individuals with disabilities. Services include leisure activities, exercise classes, communal outings, meals, and personal care. Ron stopped in to meet with both staff and patients to see how things were running in the new location.

“It was a fantastic opportunity to visit the VON site today and see first-hand the excellent work the team has done in transitioning the Adult Day Program.  It is inspiring to see such great work.  The staff were exceptionally warm, welcoming, and caring, and it is clear that these attributes are imbedded in the day-to-day duties they undertake in running this program“ said Ron. “The members’ testimonials spoke volumes to the quality of care they receive, which as noted, extend beyond the walls of the facility and into their home with other services and generous support offered and provided.”

Andrew Ward, District Executive Director for the VON commented that “patients who access the Adult Day Program benefit greatly from hands-on practical engagement. They appreciated that the LHIN team is interested in their feedback and is invested in their future health and wellbeing.”
