Governance Advisory Councils
The Local Health System Integration Act (LHSIA) provides a clear requirement for the Boards of Local Health Integration Networks (LHIN) and the Boards of Health Service Providers (HSP) to seek out and implement means of integrating services. Additionally, the LHSIA holds both sets of Boards accountable for improvements to the health care system.
With the over-arching aim of system integration, and the accountability of Boards for the attainment of that aim, the Erie St. Clair LHIN has created the Governance Advisory Councils as a forum for LHIN and HSP Board Chairs. The Governance Advisory Councils, through a process of discussion of common issues of governance and accountability, provide advice to the LHIN as well as to the HSP Boards on matters related to the enhancement of system integration.
The Governance Advisory Councils are not decision making bodies but will rather exist for advice and information sharing only. Authority for decision making for HSPs shall be retained by the individual HSP Boards.
