The Global Dinner Table Conference
MENTAL HEALTH AND EATING DISORDER CONFERENCE IN WINDSOR A SUCCESS !
As part of their 25 years of service provision, on September 9th – 11th, 2008, the Bulimia Anorexia Nervosa Association (BANA) hosted “The Global Dinner Table Conference” in Windsor, Ontario. The three day event featured leading experts and spokespersons from across North America in the areas of Eating Disorders, Body Image and Self Esteem.
Among the many notable speakers were:
- Mr. Joe Kelly (President, Dads and Daughters)
- Dr. Deborah Wilkes-Whitehall (Medical Director, Niagara Eating Disorder Outpatient Program)
- Mr. Ben Barry (Founder, Ben Barry Agency)
- Dr. Glenn Berall (Chief of Paediatrics, North York General Hospital)
- Ms. America 2008, Kirsten Hagland
- Dr. Josee Jarry (Associate Professor, University of Windsor)
- Ms. Alison Colavecchia (Regional Co-ordinator, Central West Eating Disorder Treatment Program)
- Dr. Marge Holman (Human Kinetics Professor, University of Windsor)
- Ms. Yvonne Vandebovenkamp, MSW (Canadian Mental Health Association)
- Ms. Sophie Gregoire Trudeau (Host of CTV’s E-Talk Daily).
Recognized as a growing health concern, this event, along with BANA’s 25th anniversary year garnered letters of acknowledgment of BANA’s dedication to providing services from local and provincial governments, regional medical facilities, the Minister of Health and the Prime Minister. In addition, personal greetings of support were brought forth at the conference by Windsor West M.P. Brian Masse, Erie-St.Clair LHIN CEO Gary Switzer and Windsor Mayor Eddie Francis.
